Rocketry Specialty Week –
It’s A Blast!
Choose Weeks 7-12 or 7-18
In recent years, the rocketry offering at Camp Bournedale has become so much more than just a fun activity. With skilled instruction from our science staff, we “touch down” on modern educational themes like science, engineering, and math. It’s a tactile, real-world connection to what campers are learning about in school and STEM.
With that in mind, an optional trip to the Boston Science Museum, really caps the Rocketry Specialty Week in a perfect way.
Rocketry has long been one of the most popular class offerings at Camp Bournedale. Let’s face it, what kid wouldn’t love building a real rocket and seeing it blast off and fly? With the exciting and explosive sounds of a rocket launching into the skies above, campers get to see their hard work come to fruition with a roar and a bang! Coupled with alternate model building options and our annual Soap Box Derby Races, our Specialty Rocketry Weeks will now expand this already dynamic activity. Note – Don’t worry, your child’s safety is a high priority.
Our Soap Box Derby – Kids Actually Building Stuff With Their Hands, Instead Of Using A Phone!
Campers taking part in the Soap Box Derby will work in teams to actually construct, paint, and then race their derby cars on Friday. With all of camp coming to watch the races, it really becomes a major community event at Camp Bournedale. *During the specialty weeks, there will be specific Soap Box Derby time set aside for those wishing to form teams, and work on their cars.
